Keynotes include Google and Silicon Valley Legend Philippe Kahn

MELVILLE, N.Y., January 15, 2014 — BZ Media LLC today announced the keynotes for Wearables DevCon™ a technical conference and expo for software developers, builders and designers of wearable computing devices.

The three-day conference takes place in Burlingame, CA, March 5-7, 2014. It begins with one day of intensive workshops, followed by two days of more than 30 technical classes. The conference will include a tabletop exhibit area for companies selling products and services for Wearable device builders and app developers. More than 500 app developers, software engineers and product designers are projected to attend Wearables DevCon.

Keynote Philippe Kahn is the CEO of Fullpower, the creative team behind the MotionX 24/7 wearable technology platform. Philippe is a technology innovator, entrepreneur and a wearable technology pioneer. Fullpower’s MotionX 24/7 technology platform that is at the core of solutions by Nike and Jawbone, among others. Philippe is credited with creating the first camera-phone solution, sharing pictures instantly on public networks in June 1997.

Philippe has founded four technology companies: Fullpower Technologies, LightSurf (the camera-phone), Starfish (wireless synchronization) and Borland (professional development tools). Kahn is the co-author of several dozen technology patents covering wearable, eyewear, smartphone, mobile, imaging, wireless, synchronization and medical technologies.

The second keynote is Jenny Murphy, a Staff Developer Programs Engineer on Google Glass. In this role, she helps developers use Google APIs and technologies to build cool stuff for Glass. Before joining Google, Jenny worked in a wide variety of software engineering roles from robotics at NASA to the architect of a social media startup.

Juniper Research expects nearly 15 million wearable smart devices (including glasses, health and fitness monitors, and other devices) to be sold in 2013, amounting to $800 million, and nearly 70 million to be sold by 2017.

Wearables DevCon attendees will get practical answers as they roll up their sleeves and learn how to program the hardware and software behind the coming generation of wearable technology. Classes and tutorials will focus on core hardware technology and coding topics, as well as how to develop apps for the next wave of computing devices like Google Glass, FitBit, Pebble, the SmartWatch 2, Jawbone, and the Galaxy Gear SmartWatch and other leading wearable computer products.

Ted Bahr, President of BZ Media and Conference Director of Wearables DevCon, said,

"Wearable computing devices are the next Big Wave in technology. The winning developers in this market are going to be the ones who take advantage of these new technologies EARLY and build the next generation of red-hot apps. These two visionary keynotes set the stage for an amazing three days of learning not just what the future is going to be, but how to build the hardware and software that will be a part of it."
